Weiner-Lininger Home Walkthrough

Merle Weiner approached me at Eugene Magazine about us possibly chronicling her and her husband’s plans to build an eco-friendly home on a large piece of property overlooking the Lorane Valley. Rarely do such large lots come up for sale in this area, which is just about 10 minutes outside of the city proper and still in the main 4J school district. They purchased the 242 acres which was formerly owned by a logging company, and they planned to replant trees, stop using herbicide spray, and build their LEED certified home. Of course we said yes. When we visited the home site the first time they had barely begun construction. We visited them every couple of months throughout their construction process and took photos of the green building practices. Those ended up being a series of articles that spanned a year of issues. This is the final walkthrough after the home’s completion. It’s a comfortable yet luxe family home. Click to view the full PDF of the home walkthrough, from Pleasant Hill Summer 2011.
